My first post... finally!

Hey guys,
I meant to start my blog posting much sooner but I have had Internet issues left and right.  However, my current hotel has decent enough wi-fi that I figured I should post now before we switch and I have no Internet again.
Alright, to start off I landed in Rome and spent seven days there.  My favorite highlight was the Villa Borghese museum.  It is amazing!  They have so many incredible works of art.  Plus they regulate how many people are in there at a time so it never feels too crowded. I know that sounds like a weird detail, but after a day in the Vatican, you appreciate breathing space in your museums.  And although the Vatican is beautiful, spending all day feeling like your crammed into an Italian metro really detracts from the experience.
Culture-wise, I have discovered at least ten uses for Prego which is the Italian word for please/your welcome.  Within two days I realized that if you are ever unsure of what to say, just put in a "prego" and you're usually okay.  Also, I never realized how successful the campaign against smoking was in the U.S. until I came into Italy.  Everyone smokes here.  Someone in my group said that Rome smelled like wine and cigarettes and that is probably the most accurate description.
I'll post my pictures separately in a day or so.

P.S.  If the format is funky, please let me know.  I am doing this by phone so I'm not sure how well it will work.  :)
